15 Extraordinary Places To Hike In Florida

3. Ghost Mountain, California

Ghost Mountain 2

No, its not only the name that warrants this hike a place in the list, the interesting artifacts and story behind this harsh landscape in California’s Anza-Borrego Desert State Park makes it well worth a visit. One can see the ruins of the South Home adobe cabin, where Marshal and Tanya South made a living off the unforgiving landscape during the depression. The short but steep trail is very rewarding, with spectacular views of the Blair Valley, Granite Peak and the eastern end of the Laguna Mountain.Ghost Mountain

Branching off the trail is turn-off to see the old Native American morteros as well as the “Pictograph Trail,”  where you’ll find a rock covered in red and yellow pictographs from the Kumeyaay people dating back 200-1000 years.
